About Our Facility

Located on 19 serene acres at the junction of the Berkshire and Green Mountain ranges in western Massachusetts, the Greenfield Recovery Center is a 16-bed facility offering the ideal environment for healing.

Our Recovery Process

The Greenfield Recovery Center uses a whole person approach consisting of four phases that provide the tools and coping behaviors needed to interact with technology in a healthier and more balanced manner. Counseling, Psychotherapy, Medications (if needed), EMDR, and Family Therapies are offered throughout all phases of the program at the Greenfield Center.

Phase 1: Usually lasting 2 – 3 weeks, is a “digital detox” where the Participant is removed from access to the Internet and their digital screens and reintroduced to the naturalistic rewards of real-time living. During this phase an emphasis is placed on re-balancing mind, body, and emotions along with good nutrition, adequate sleep, exercise, and social interaction.

Phase 2: Engages the Participant in more active social interaction, communication, real-time activities, heathy lifestyle, and education of both the participant and family members on the dynamics of Internet and technology addiction. Focus in phase 2 will be on: managing stress, social skills, learning to cope with boredom, and how to avoid triggers and urges to go online.

Phase 3: A  step-down phase where Participants are gradually weaned-off the externally imposed structure of the program and assume semi-independent responsibilities, with some reintroduction to technology access while still experiencing the support of the Greenfield Center.

Phase 4: The final phase of the program consists of discharge planning, structuring aftercare, beginning to resume a more balanced life which might include work, school, social activities and healthy self-care.

Enrollment Process

Participants are admitted to the Greenfield Recovery Center after a telephone screening by our qualified enrollment advisor, and approval from the Program and/or Medical Director. Our program is open to young adult males, and we provide care to all eligible persons regardless of race, education or social background.

Why Do You Need the Greenfield Recovery Center?

home-why man

In the US, approximately 80% of young adult males engage in online gaming including massive multi-player online role-playing games (MMORPG). For most, this is a normal and enjoyable recreational pursuit. However, a small, but significant percentage of players (estimates run from 0.5% – 12%) fall into excessive and pathological use, spending as much as 16-20 hours each day online.
